10 Most-Anticipated PlayStation 5 Games Of 2026 And Beyond

With a few notable exceptions, there aren't too many PlayStation exclusives anymore. Despite this, there are still some great upcoming games that will look and play perfectly on the popular console. PS5 owners, mark your calendars for some of the most highly anticipated and exciting games to look forward to in 2026 and beyond.

I've omitted Grand Theft Auto 6, which is arguably the most highly anticipated title of the decade, and needs no introduction at this point.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

Release Date: August 27, 2026

A Plague Tale: Innocence and A Plague Tale: Requiem follow Amicia and her brother Hugo through a world tormented by a horrible plague. Thousands of rats have been emerging from the darkness, consuming everything in their path—including humans. Worse still, the rats seem to be following Amicia and Hugo as they travel through France in search of a cure for Hugo's mysterious illness.

This year, Asobo Studio returns with a third entry into the series, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. This time, instead of following the siblings, the game turns to one of their companions: Sophia the seafaring smuggler.

The game will take place 15 years before the events of Requiem and take players through the adventures of the young Sophia. The title will depart from the stealth and action combo of the previous two games in favor of pure action and exploration, making this an exciting entry to look forward to.

Marvel's Wolverine

Release Date: September 15, 2026

Video games based on superheroes and movies have come a long way from the original tie-in shovelware. The newest hero to make his way into video games is Wolverine, in the upcoming action-adventure game, aptly titled Marvel's Wolverine.

The game will follow the titular super-charged Wolverine, three years after he quits the superhero life. A crisis pulls him back into the game: someone's been kidnapping mutants, and only Wolverine can stop them.

Developed by the game industry veterans at Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Wolverine is one of the rare PlayStation exclusives coming in 2026.

Silent Hill: Townfall

Release Date: September 24, 2026

Konami's Silent Hill has been seeing a resurgence, through both remakes and a slew of new titles. The franchise returned to the forefront of modern gaming with Bloober Team's recreation of the beloved Silent Hill 2, then shocked fans with a brand-new game, Silent Hill f.

The upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall—created in collaboration between Konami and Annapurna—will continue the series' venture into new territories. Instead of bringing characters to the town, Silent Hill comes to the characters of f and Townfall. This time around, the ominous mist descends on Scotland in 1996.

Besides the usual blend of visual and psychological horror, Townfall has two new exciting aspects. The first is the new use of first-person pov, a departure from the game series' traditional third-person experience. The other is the theme of medical horror, which is sure to be wonderfully horrible.

Control Resonant

Release Date: September 24, 2026

The return of the Control series by Remedy seems fitting in 2026, when analogue horrors like The Backrooms have fans entranced. Control Resonant takes players back to the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), a secretive government organization that controls, secures, and protects supernatural anomalies for safety and research purposes.

This time, the game follows Dylan Faden—younger brother to Jesse Faden, the protagonist of the previous game and the director of the FBC. Travel to a Manhattan that's devastated by a dreadful black sentient mist and overrun by paranormal entities.

Dylan will have to learn to control his own anomalous powers, and use them to stop the cosmic crisis that threatens Manhattan, and the rest of the world. In other words, a typical day at the FBC office!

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse

Release Date: October 15, 2026

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is the latest game to emerge in the era of nostalgic throwbacks. The upcoming game takes the Castlevania series back to its roots with 2D, side-scrolling action that's equal parts modern and classic.

Belmont's Curse tells the story of Rosa, the newest member of the Belmont family to take on the legendary threat of Dracula. Enter the vampire's castle, overcome the obstacles, and neutralize the threats contained within (again).

Though Konami is at the help of the project, it's being developed by Evil Empire and Motion Twin—the minds behind the beloved Metroidvania, Dead Cells. Considering that Dead Cells even has a Return to Castlevania expansion, this is the dream team for revitalizing the series.

Final Fantasy Resonance

Release Date: October 22, 2026

Yes, I know this isn't the Final Fantasy title you expected to find on this list (that's coming, too). Resonance is another game that brings a franchise back to its origins. The game is an HD-2D remake of an entry in the Final Fantasy series that you may have missed: the mobile-only Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.

Final Fantasy Resonance follows a knight named Rain and his companions as they try to protect the world's elemental crystals from evil forces. The title features turn-based battles and pixel art recreated in Square Enix's favorite new HD-2D style, similar to the popular Dragon Quest series remakes.

Resonance will bring Rain's epic story to a new audience, and rescue it from obscurity, as Brave Exvius is no longer available on mobile.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

Release Date: February 12, 2027

While other games are bringing an old style to new consoles, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set to do the opposite. The upcoming action-adventure game from Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog will bring the original Lara Croft 1996 classic into the modern age.

The title reimagines Croft's first-ever adventure for the current-gen consoles. Adventure through a fully rendered, stunning world full of archaeological discoveries and dangers, including, yes, dinosaurs.

Legay of Atlantis will take Croft from the jungles of Peru to the deserts of Egypt, and beyond, all fully recreated in Unreal Engine 5. This is sure to be a fun treat for both existing fans and gamers who never got to experience the original.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation

Release Date: Spring 2027

At long last, Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 Remake project is nearing its epic conclusion. The trilogy, which started in 2020, will continue the alternate retelling of the beloved 1997 game in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, coming in Spring 2027.

Join Cloud Strife and his friends at the thrilling tail end of their adventure. The game features a world in danger from a massive meteor. Spurred by this world-ending threat, the planet awakens massive bioweapons to protect it, and it's up to Cloud and co to save the world from both itself and the massive meteor.

Journey to iconic locations from the original game, and rewrite the ending to a fateful journey that's been seven years in the making.

Until Dawn 2

Release Date: 2027

In 2015, Supermassive Games redefined cinematic, narrative adventure games with Until Dawn—a brutal story where the smallest decision could have horrific and often deadly repercussions.

Dev studio Firesprite will take over from Supermassive to continue the legacy with Until Dawn 2. This PlayStation exclusive will introduce a new cast of characters who are about to have the worst night of their lives.

Until Dawn 2 will take place on an abandoned island, where a group of "ghost hunters" arrives to film an episode for a paranormal show. The night quickly takes a turn for the paranormal in a way that no one was expecting.

Once agian, players will have to keep their wits about them to overcome the dangers, make good decisions, and (hopefully) keep everyone alive until dawn.

God Of War Laufey

Release Date: TBD

God of War has come a long way from being a story of revenge to an epic tale of a dad spanning continents. God of War Laufey is the first entry in the series to depart from the iconic Kratos as its protagonist.

Instead, the upcoming game from Santa Monica Studio will focus on Kratos's wife, Laufey (also known as Faye). The story will take Faye through the afterlife at the same time as the events of the 2018 God of War and the 2022 God of War Ragnarök.

She may be dead, but Faye is still an unstoppable, fierce force—and, more importantly, a mother. When she realizes that Kratos and her son, Atreus, are at risk, she'll stop at nothing to return to the land of the living to save them. God of War Laufey will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, and one of the most exciting games coming to the console.
