Thanks to some Brazilian retail listings for Grand Theft Auto 6, and in lieu of the long-awaited third trailer, we've learned some more details about how Rockstar's magnum opus will play.

According to Amazon Brazil (via machine translation), GTA 6 will feature "integrated social networks." This means you'll be able to "watch viral videos, follow influencers, and discover world events," all through your in-game cell phone.

There are some doubts about the legitimacy of this product description, as it may have been altered by a third party, as is sometimes the way on Amazon. However, another Brazilian retailer, KaBuM, has even more detail about this mechanic (also via machine translation):

"The great innovation lies in the in-game integration of social networks: your character's cell phone consumes viral videos in real time, allowing you to follow Vice City influencers and discover secret side missions through social media."

Alongside this, the KaBuM listing also confirms that NPCs will "have their own routines based on advanced AI, generating organic random events across the map." Finally, GTA is on the same level as Watch Dogs Legion.

PlayStation and Rockstar have claimed that GTA 6 will "play best on PS5," but specifics have been lacking. According to the KaBuM listing, the game has been "developed natively to extract maximum power from Sony's hardware," delivering "breathtaking visuals." This includes:

  • "Global illumination with advanced ray tracing: perfect reflections on cars and water in Vice City."
  • "Realistic dynamic weather: storms and time changes that alter physics and gameplay."
  • "Optimization for PS5 Pro: enjoy enhanced performance, more stable frame rates, and even sharper resolutions."

The most interesting part is about how weather will seemingly affect gameplay and physics. At a base level, that could simply mean less traction when driving in the rain, but when you consider weather disasters such as thunderstorms and hurricanes, it could have much bigger implications, such as destructible environments.
