Marvel's Official New Jean Grey Is Already Turning Heads
Jean Grey has been an iconic part of X-Men and the Marvel canon for decades, so it's no surprise that there's currently a lot of speculation surrounding who might play the character in the MCU. Currently, there are countless rumors Sadie Sink is Jean Grey in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Meanwhile, the character is set to return in X-Men '97 in July, and she's also confirmed for Marvel's Wolverine in September.
In fact, there was a lot of excitement when Jean Grey was revealed in the latest Marvel's Wolverine gameplay trailer. Considering the complicated relationship she has with Logan, it's really promising that she'll appear in the game. Fans were quick to speculate (or maybe just hope) that Jean would be playable in Marvel's Wolverine, but Insomniac has since stated that only Logan/Wolverine will be playable in the upcoming game.
Despite all that, Marvel fans are pretty excited to see the new Jean Grey appearing. Over on Reddit, one fan even shared the seeming confirmation that while Jean won't be playable, there will be missions where she's working alongside Logan in Marvel's Wolverine. So, while it doesn't look like we'll be able to control the character, she'll at least be joining us for some missions.
Of course, a lot of fans are disappointed we won't be playing as Jean, especially since early leaks for the game has her being playable. "We literally SAW Jean Grey gameplay," reads one of the comments on Reddit. "It got so much hype and to find out we wont actually play as her."
Still, this hasn't stopped people from loving her new design, which looks a bit grittier, and more like Famke Janssen's portrayal in the X-Men movies. "This Jean had seen things," reads another reply.
Others have speculated that Insomniac is lying in an attempt to avoid spoiling Jean Grey's playable sections, but that feels like a stretch considering Insomniac has explicitly stated only Logan/Wolverine is playable. At the very least, it's exciting that we're getting this new version of Jean Grey.
From the extended gameplay trailer, which you can view above, you can see Jean Grey in action. Honestly, it looks really cool, so it's no wonder everyone is hyped to finally see her in Marvel's Wolverine. The game is out in September, so we thankfully don't have too much longer to wait in order to see these versions of Jean Grey and Logan in action.
